Wow...terrible news. I can remember when I bought a manual from Doug a few years ago, he was so genuine and interesting we talked for hours out in the cold standing in a parking lot. Super nice guy who always made me feel welcome where ever and when ever we met. I will miss him for sure, what a shock. RIP.

It kills me that I've been so busy with my son and house for the last 2 years that I haven't had much time to spend with the club or Doug. I was hoping to be able to do more club stuff and shows next year now that my son is old enough to start getting into cars. I was looking forward to spending more time with Doug and learn more Camaro history. I've forgotten at least half of the neat facts he's told me in the years I've known him. It was always fun matching "car wits" with him when it was about stuff I'm old enough to know and remember. I feel honored to have contributed at least a little to Doug's 74 Z28 project and know that he at least got a couple years to enjoy it. I think he thought it would never see the road again since there were a lot of things he could not do by himself due to health issues.

Welcome back, Wade - wish it was under different circumstances, but nice to see you on here.Originally posted by GETGONE View PostI hate that I haven't seen Doug since the Berger show. I missed our club Christmas party the other weekend as I was trying to finish up some stuff on our lower level before we have our families over for Christmas. Doug was the whole reason I joined the WMCC as he was such a great and knowledgeable guy. Many may not know he was also an avid guitar collector as well as motorcycle enthusiast. I would always wind up parking next to Doug at shows as his white with black hockey stripes Berger Hot Rod SS was the opposite of my black with white hockey stripes SS.
I frankly I'm still in shock. I made a post on Camaro5.com to pass the news along on there since I know he was registered on there. Just can't believe he's gone and at such a young age.

Kinda crazy how something like this happens and the old guard comes back around.

Agreed on both sentiments.Originally posted by 81DaytonaPaceCar View PostWelcome back, Wade...you have been missed...
Is it unfortunate or fortunate that loss pulls us back together?
Perhaps a bit of both.
Frankly, I'm still struggling with wrapping my head around the fact that Doug is gone...
Wade I hope all is going well with you.
