Day Light Savings Time - March 11th, Sunday, 2AM

Just wanted to remind everyone that our good old George Bush signed into law the bill that moves Day Light Savings Time to March 11th, at 2am. This is earlier than normal, obviously. Due to this, we are going to have a little trial and error on Sunday morning whether or not the time is correct. If the server synchronizes with an internet server, then it might go smoothly. If it doesn't, the time will be 1 hour off. We might also need to manually go into our User Control Panel and turn DST on manually.

In any case, I just wanted to remind everyone that it's this Sunday, incase you've been living in a black hole and didn't hear about it. For being more critical than Y2K, it sure didn't get a lot of publicity.

It's not. It goes into effect at 2:00am on the 11th, Sunday Morning. Should be interesting coming to work on Monday. They only started patching things about a month ago. I hope everything got taken care of! If you have XP, Microsoft released a patch for it and if you have auto updates turned on you will already have it. If you have Windows 2000 you have to go to MS web site and they give you a registry edit to fix the issue.

Considering that the energy studies that showed we saved energy with Daylight Savings Time were done in the '70s, it likely doesn't do squat in today's environment.

i think you guys are nuts. I would like to spring forward an hour and keep it there. So when i get home from work it is still light out. Maybe winter wouldn't be so damn depressing if it was light a little more. But i hate fall back yes we gain an hour but it is dark earlier

It wasn't just Bush. Other countries had to agree as well and they are changing as well. They did an energy study and found how much can be saved by adding the 4 weeks to DST. We get an extra hour of daylight for 28 days now!
