  • MiFbody Back Up And Running (Sorta)

Alright. Here's the quick jist. I'm actually forced to use a proxy to view the site, for whatever reason it won't let me view the site normally. Some of you are able to view the site, while others still get the 403 Forbidden Access error. I don't know why, I just hope it resolves soon.

Yesterday around 11pm, the site overloaded our server again. This is the same thing that caused the site to go down about a month ago. Basically, when they told me that was the reason the site was down, I immediately told them I'd upgrade to semi-dedicated.

This has many financial complications, seeing as we do not have near the amount of sponsors we need for the site to be able to sustain itself month to month. It's going to mean I'm taking some major sacrifices from my own finances to keep Michigan FBody running.

In the next few weeks, as the site gets back up 100%, I'll be figuring out some sort of premium membership on the site where donations will be accepted and you will get something in return for donating.

Honestly, and as many of you know, I really don't want to do this. I honestly do not want to take anyone's money, but if I don't I can't afford to run MiFbody anymore. We've grown from a $15 per month server to needing a $75 per month server. That's a huge change, and it's hard for me to swallow the costs.

Secondly, I'm asking anyone with hookups to automotive-related businesses to see if their company would be willing to be a paid advertiser on Michigan FBody. Our Gold advertiser account costs only $100 per year, that's a little less than $10 a month. We currently have 4 paid sponsors, a couple of our sponsors are complimentary because they supported the site from the start. If they do not want to do the $100 advertiser account, they could do the silver advertiser package, which only costs $50 per year. It's not much, but it helps. So please, if your company is related to automotive... hell even if it isn't, please see if there are any chances of sponsorship. We need it.

Lastly, I just wanted to take the time to really express how thankful I am for the patience and compassion everyone has already shown over the past 24 hours. Especially to my one and only, Angie. When I first got the phone call last night that MiFbody was down, I ran for my laptop and have been on it ever since. I woke up every hour last night to check on the site, check on my mailbox to see if I had any responses to my helpdesk tickets, and update the tickets when necessary. She is the most understanding woman I know, and I am forever grateful to have her in my life. I just really wanted to let everyone know that she has REALLY put up with a lot over the past day due to the site being down, and to publically say how grateful I am.

    Thanks everyone.

The DNS servers are updating, I'm finally able to view the site without having to be sneaky about it and use a proxy lol.

I tend to agree, we all use and enjoy the site, every active user toss in a few bucks isn't a big deal. If you need help or donation, let me know.
