It's been that for quite some years now, maybe decades. I used to work in Madison, WI, which is the gay & lesbian Capital of the World, so I was subjected to all those euphinisms.
I think that when you fill out government forms, if you answer "yes" to "have you visited Turkey" then you are considered an AIDS risk, as well as visitors of Greece.

By the way guys, ME-TA (without the dash) was the HTML command used to cause the hack. It would do a "me-ta" refresh which redirected your browser to their website. That's why "****l" is censored.

For the 70's and most of the 80's, San Francisco and New York duked it out for Per Capita title of Gay & Lesbian Capital with around 40% of their city's populations being homosexual or bisexual. Since no other large city in the world has this much, they have title to both "of America" and "of the World".

Then in 1986 Wisconsin passed the Gay and Lesbian Special Rights Act (officailly named Family leave act or somesuch), giving Gays and Lesbians more rights than anybody else in WI. By 1988, Madison was ranked 3rd with 38%, and New York and Frisco were 39% and 41% - I don't recall which was which. And in 1989 Madison jumped over both and had 42% of it's population claiming homosexual or bisexual "orientaion" and has never dropped from 1st place since then.
it sucks being a heterosexual single guy there. Figure about half the population is married, figure out how much is left over for dating.
