Guys,
I've been noticing a trend lately with a handful of members and I wanted to post this to reiterate something that I thought would be rather common sense. When you register on almost any respectable forum, they're going to verify your e-mail address to be valid before activating the account. This process is automatic and is usually pretty easy to take care of - you get an e-mail at the address you specify saying "click here", you click the link and tada you verified the validity of your e-mail address.
Unfortunately, I've noticed a trend lately where users deliberately change their username to something invalid. While every person has their own reasons for it, once I start receiving numerous bounced e-mails from private messages, topic subscriptions, etc being sent to your username I have to do something about it. Many ISPs, especially Yahoo, are very stringent on how bounced e-mails are handled. To allow our e-mail server to send to Yahoo users, we had to make an agreement to handle bounced e-mails swiftly to ensure that Yahoo's server is not being flooded with e-mails being sent to invalid e-mail addresses. This same courtesy applies to most e-mail providers, but Yahoo is the most anal about it.
If you're changing your e-mail address because you want to take a break from the site, please send me a PM. If you want your access removed from the shoutbox and changed your e-mail address knowing that the invalid e-mail group doesn't have access to the shoutbox, send me a PM. If you don't want to receive e-mails from MiFbody again, send me a PM and I can delete your account.
We verify the validity of every e-mail address to stop spammers from coming on the site. If they have to have a valid e-mail, so do you.
Thanks,
-B
