Alright guys - I thought we were all mature enough to know where the line is in the shoutbox but we've had so many people that don't know where the line is that I unfortunately have to type this rules thread up.
Rules
1. I don't care what time of the day it is, no descriptive sexual talk in the shoutbox. No defining different "sex acts" or any of that. It's disgusting and does not belong on this site.
2. Do not use the shoutbox as your personal location to use deragoatory or vulgarities about other members of the site. If you have a problem with someone then take it to PMs with them. The shoutbox is a public "chatroom" and should be treated as such.
3. The shoutbox was created as an additional location to chat with members on the site. Act in the shoutbox as you would act in the public threads. In other words, if you don't want people to be able to see your stuff archived in a thread, don't post it in the shoutbox either. All shouts to the shoutbox are archived for an indefinate period of time. If you say something in the shoutbox that you wouldn't want someone to be able to pull up and use against you at a later point in time, don't say it in the shoutbox.
4. Use common sense and best judgement - sometimes a conversation is more fitting in a private setting such as AOL Instant Messanger. If the topic is a little too private, go to IMs or Private Messages and leave it out of the public's eye.
5. Remember that the shoutbox is open to all of our members with 25 posts or more. What you say in the shoutbox is more public than what you say in threads - all I have to do is go to the main page to see your conversation in the shoutbox whereas I have to specifically select a thread to see the conversation in there. Likewise, I can choose to not go into a thread that I am not interested in but I can not choose to go to a different shoutbox on the site if there's nonsense talk in the shoutbox.
6. Last, but certainly not least, keep it clean. This doesn't/shouldn't require explanation.
Disclaimer: The staff holds the rights to update these rules at any given point in time. Being active in the shoutbox means you agree to the above rules. If you're found breaking the rules, depending on the severity, your access to the shoutbox will be revoked. The staff have the ability and discresion to remove people's access to the shoutbox for any reason at any given time. Just like corporate America has the ability to fire an employee for any reason at any given time, I too have the ability to remove people whenever I feel it's necessary to preserve the integrity of the shoutbox and the conversations within.
