This upcoming May, the American Heart Association (AHA) is sponsoring the Heart! Walk to raise money for future research of heart disease and stroke. As a team captain, I am looking for walkers that are interested in participating with me in the event. As a walker there are a number of things that we can do not only for the benefit of others, but also ourselves: every walker receives a free lunch and drink, after raising $100 a walker will receive a free T-shirt, by you joining my team we can place a larger spotlight on the event, and finally the walk will provide us with a fit workout. Statistics show that for every one hour you exercise, two hours will be added to your life. This is a priceless return that no investor on Wall Street can take away!
The event will be taking place May 16th, 2009 at the Southfield Municipal Complex. The address is as follows: 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield, MI 48076
The day of the event, you have the opportunity to walk 1.5 or 3.0 miles, or a 5k fun run. The link at the bottom of the page will direct you to the AHA webpage where you can sign-up to be on my team. To sign-up click what reads "Join Our Team." From this point, the site will have you read terms and then fill in contact information. Once this is complete, you will be all set!
You also have the option of making a donation to the cause. If you cannot attend the event this is an excellent option and would go to the AHA for a good cause. To make a donation, you would follow the same instructions for "Join Our Team," and then specify your donation amount on the contact information page. All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be sent in the mail.
