  • Twitter in Postbit

    Hey guys,

Joel requested that I add the Twitter icon to our postbits. I don't know how many people actually use it (or why, for that matter), but it was fairly easy to do so I did it.

So, if any of you actually have a Twitter account - go to your User CP menu, select Edit Your Details, then scroll all the way down and it will be about the last field on there. Once added, it will show a image next to the Facebook and Myspace icons.

    Thanks,
    Brian

If you guys are familiar with status updates on Facebook and Myspace, that's what Twitter is. The entire site is devoted to posting a status update on what you're doing. I've never really seen the point to it - when do you draw the line and decide enough on the diarrhea of status updates?

I think my professor put it best - he was the exchange administrator at The Roeper School in Birmingham making over 100k/yr (trying to say he's not some shmuck). Huge technology dude. "I never realized why people use Twitter. After awhile I decided - fine, I'll try it. The only thing using Twitter made me realize is that my life is EXTREMELY boring."

If you think its just a facebook status, you arent using it to its full potential.

It is a personalized news service. If im only following brian meissen, who doesnt even get the concept, im not going to benefit too much from it. because brian only works on Red Alert and MiFbody and has no other valuable contribution to update society on.

On the other hand, if im following the president, congress, the detroit tigers, GMBlogs, and other things like that... im informed.

Ive been using it for a couple months now and twitter is my preferred news source.

I just use RSS feeds on gmail.

And my AOL homepage, and the news.

Yeah - it sounds like it's a personalized RSS feed service, then.

I used to use RSS also. Id say twitter is better because

                      1) its personalized

                      2) it is limited to headlines and links - you arent scrolling over an entire article. you only click on what you want to read.

                      but thats jmo

Twitter rocks. Use it now or use it in 3 years when it "catches on"

I like how I can update directly from my iPhone, take a pic and upload a pic in less than 15 seconds.

I had signed up to test the mod, so I'll give it a try... but I doubt I'll get hooked.
