  • Database Errors

    Hey guys,

Earlier today I was working to repair/optimize our MySQL table due to the bad performance of the site lately. Unfortunately, our attachment table is 2.3gb from all the attachments people have on the site. I ran out of time and restarted the mySQL server, but I don't think it was a great idea, because now I know we're having a lot of database errors.

I just wanted to say I restarted the repair/optimize so the site might be slower right now, and I know about the database errors and trying to resolve them right now.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Maybe if you have the attachments auto delete after like 30 days. Might help with that problem alittle bit.

Yeah, I'm going to do something like that, just gotta do it.

Anyway, guys, I've repaired the attachments table, let me know if you still get database errors.

B, is it attached pics or all pics in general? Because I attach them and host them from my photobucket. If it would keep down on space I could just host all mine before posting.

It's the attaching specifically to posts/threads. There's a LOT of attachments. I'm currently trying to export them from the database and plop them into the filesystem... that way the MySQL database shouldn't be so big.

Edit, it's preparing to plop them... so far it's at 4300 attachments.

6400 attachments all have been moved to the filesystem (hard drive). Should speed up the mySQL server

And done re-optimizing. So I'm good now.

storing binary data in mysql works, but its not the best way to go... i learned that lesson long ago....
