  • 1971 Formula Stalking Grand Rapids

My name is Brian and I reside in Kentwood, just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I own a 1971 Silver Firebird Formula 455 that's been slightly modified and set up for the track. Mods include:

    Edelbrock heads
    Torker 2 intake
    Demon carb
    Ross pistons
    Crower rods
    MSD ignition
    BUilt TH400 tranny
    90/10 shocks
    Cal-Trac traction bars
    Trunk-mounted battery
AC and heat removed for weight reduction

She used to run 11.56 @119 with 3.90's in the rear but 8 MPG sucked so I put in 3.08's and still run 12's.

    Future plans include (hopefully):
    rotisserie body restoration
    Rear disc brakes
    Air conditioning
    new pro-touring front sub-frame

Of course, who knows when it will happen!

You have any pics of your battery in the trunk?

Also where did you get your engine work done at? I'm presuming you have a Poncho block and not an Olds.

                      Sounds like a sweet machine!

...Have you considered moving into an overdrive transmission with lockup converter? You could have your cake and eat it, too!
1984 Pontiac Trans Am. Well, most of it anyway. Some of it is 1969 Chevy. Some of it is 1982 4-cylinder Firebird, 1987 Trans Am, and 1991 Formula 1LE. Some of it is 1994 Trans Am, and some of it is 1999 SLP Firehawk. The rest is aftermarket.
