good luck with the 700... i have yet to get one to last more than 6 months specailly with power behind it... but if your dad is a good mech..and you put the time and money into building it right they usually will do.. but you have to figure the 383 pretty much stock is going to put out around 325 hp if you build it right.. one thing ive learned from mine be it that its my first stroker small block... they eat up cams.. you can get what you think is a pretty big cam for it.. and it wont hit it too hard as if it were in a 350..
right now im going full roller in mine. dumped about 700 bucks into parts so far just waiting for them to show up.

Yep....I already went through a 700R lasted 2 months maybe. Goin for a TH350 now w/ manual valve body.
Also shoot for a forged bottom end that way you dont have to tear it apart again if you want to run a power adder.

a 700 if built right will handle more power than the th350 (stock tehy handle close to teh same, bith are low performance trans)

I'll definitely be beefing up the tranny a bit, but I think I'm more concerned about the rear end and the frame with so much torque. I probably won't be crossing the 500hp line in this car, because I don't know how much even a weld in subframe can take.

I'll start a new thread on my project.....I need to take some "before" pics so I can track my progress

                  subframe connectors do wonders
if you have some other things to strengthen up the body like the wonderbar in front and then lcas and a panhard bar and a torque arm you should be good. I wouldn't worry.

Yes it does...it's called a "floorpan"

I was planning on the wonder bar, panhard bar and such to complement the subframe....but I want the beefing up to remain invisible to the casual eye, if you know what I mean 8)

That may be a little over the top for me....I don't plan on running 9's or anything I'll do what I can with the underbody first.
