Thanks for letting me join the board. I am a life long Michigan resident and long time (28 year) Camaro owner. I am a self employed manufacturer's rep and process engineering consultant in the Electronics Industry.
I bought my first Camaro, a 1982 Z28, in 1986 when I was a college student at EMU. It was a daily driver for many years, but never in the winter. Car has always been stored in the winter. In the last 22 years...it has been a "rarely ever driven" car and has sat in my shop. The reason? After college I started racing oval track cars. I raced Dirt late model cars for 17 years before parking my ride to spend the next 7 years helping my son race Quarter Midgets all over the midwest. He raced from age 10-17. Then he went off to college a couple years ago. It was time to decide if I get back in my Late Model, or sell it all and be done. I chose the later as I needed a break from all the work and money spent in oval track racing. So...in the course of 18 months, I sold everything I spent 23+ years building...4 racecars, all my spare parts, and all racing specific tools. I took the money from that and put it toward my new car. Earlier in 2014 I purchased my 2014 2SS/RS/1LE in Red Rock Metallic. I LOVE that car! It is so much fun to drive. I have done a bunch of subtle mods to it, but nothing too radical. I cleaned my 1982 all up and put it back on the road...took both cars to Camaro Fest in Ypsilanti back in July. My 1LE won first place in the Mod division for 2010-2014 Camaro's. I really enjoyed the show and hoped to do a lot more car shows...just could not find as many as I had hoped and only participated in 2 shows all summer.
As much as I love my 1LE...my true dream Camaro has always been a 1969 Camaro! I was building models of 69 Camaro's as a child! A couple months ago I stumbled upon a 1969 Z28 (clone) that I could not pass up! This is a complete frame off rotisserie restored car! Practically everything from the frame up is brand new! The seller wanted me to have it as he know I would take care of it, so he made a great deal for me. I took my enclosed trailer out to Philly and brought it home! I now have the "odd" generations covered!
So my new "post racing career" love is my Camaro's! I am hoping to do a lot more shows in 2015! I just need to find them. Then I have to pick which Camaro to bring! I am sure I will have all 3 at Camaro Fest as I have enough licensed drivers in my house to get them there.
I look forward to meeting many of you at shows and getting to know the MI F-Body family better. If you know of any shows in 2015...keep me posted, hoping to attend a lot more of them.
Thanks for reading and your time!
