Am interested in buying a 2000-2002 Trans Am. Have never owned a "sports car" before. Is this a good vehicle? Live in the Detroit metro area. What is a fair price? What should I look for? Is Craigs list a good place to look?

Welcome. Do some online research. I bought my car via Craigslist.
When in doubt, Whip it out !

Well, if you want "bang for the buck", they're tough to beat. Arguably the most versatile powertrain on the planet (you want 28 mpg on the highway, ok, we can do that...you want to build a 1000 hp go-fast machine, ok, we can do that...and pretty much anything in between...).

Like any car, price is determined by options, condition, and mileage.

So anywhere between $5000 for a base model with 150K miles on it, to $30K for an '02 CE 'vert with 1000 miles on it.

Let us know what you're looking for...we're really good at spending other people's money...

      Welcome and enjoy the site!

There are a few for sale on here, now is a good time to buy because there might be some people that don't want to drive their car for the winter. I also found my car on Craigslist, prices will be all over the place, from 2-3000 high mileage to up to 20K for low mileage show car.

Welcome and good luck with the search. May want to consider calling it a Pony car or muscle car, "sports car" with a solid rear axle can spark up some debate.

Welcome! Although my Brickyard 400 is not a Trans AM, it is for sale.

Welcome to the site! I have to admit - when I saw your username I thought you were a GM employee since it's in the classic GM ID format.

Welcome to MiFBody! Only word of advice is be careful of the title status -- make sure the car is not a salvage yard refugee. Sometimes those make good cars, but just don't pay top dollar -- make sure you get the salvage title discount.
