Ok, list of responses:
MIFC: Yes, will do. Waiting for Facebook access.
Roush: working out for me pretty well.
Wodward: Was planning to this year, but my housing arrangement fell through and I had to spend the day looking for a rental instead of cruising.

Welcome, and congrats on the ride! Always good to see another one of those!

My TTA also spent a lot of time in Los Angeles...almost 20 years.
Again, congrats and welcome!
For local TTA lore, I'm working on a little project now (I say "working" because you can only work on it when you stumble across somebody who actually was "there" at the time), and there are quite a few TTAs just in SE Michigan. Perhaps as many as 100, mostly due to the GM influence of course.Originally posted by meissen View PostWelcome to the site! I have a feeling Scott and Jeff will be excited to see another TTA on the site
In the past month, I have run across 2 cloth interior, T-top versions of the TTA. Now normally this would signify that it was a Festival Car, but neither of these cars were. BUT, they were both original owner cars, by GM retirees out of Pontiac, that had been winners of the '89 raffle to purchase one of these cars.
Now this creates more questions than answers...
1. As all the Festival Cars were shipped to Pontiac to be prepped for the race, were these just "spares" that didn't get shipped to Indy?
2. If so, how many "spares" were there?
3. Was Pontiac the only place to get a cloth, T-top raffle car?
It was exceedingly difficult to get a non- leather/T-top car, because the GM system defaulted to the leather/T-top criteria...they weren't "options". The dealer would have to know how to go into the pre-internet, dangling-chad, keypunch ordering system and delete the leather and T-top codes (thus leaving you with a cloth-hardtop TTA...they made 15 of those) to get either a cloth/T-top (187 built, mostly Festival Cars) or a leather/hardtop (24 built) specimen. That was the extent of the option list. So a cloth/T-top car isn't something you just stumble across every day.
But, yes, there are certainly a fair number of these cars around here...comparitively speaking...

I am also working on a little side project regarding the TTA. With GM's and PAS' manufacturing records not published to the public domain, I'm trying to rebuild these cars in CAD. As an electrical engineer, I'm starting with the wiring harnesses. My TTA has 89k original miles and I want to essentially re-manufacture it.Originally posted by 81DaytonaPaceCar View PostWelcome, and congrats on the ride! Always good to see another one of those!
