Hello, I just purchased this 89 Gta to hopefully get going soon. I bought it how it sits and have just replaced the starter. When I turn the key the starter still does nothing. I honestly don't even know where to start, I did jump the solenoid and it kicked in. It is a rustfree car with perfect floors under the carpet and only has 70k miles and only 30k on the 5.7 crate engine (supposedly). Has been sitting a few years. If anyone in the area has some time in the near future and wants to make a few bucks please let me know. I'd really like to get this thing going so I can start working on the cosmetic issues. Also to anyone who would be interested in a Fiero GT fastback project (rust free) blown engine it is yours for the taking if you can get my GTA running!lol

I'm in southgate. Start with the cheapest route. Change out the starter relay. I'm willing to bet that makes her sing.

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'll look into that right now. Also I am in need of a passenger ttop ASAP (I bought it off a guy who's ex wife broke that, cracked the windshield and keyed the passenger side and hood!)

my first instinct on this would be that something isn't getting a good connection, the first thing I did when I bought my Camaro was going through and replacing ALL of the fuses, even if they don't look bad. and then what I would do next is to make sure all the connections to the starter are clean and are making good connection, same thing at the alternator. replacing the Starter relay like Mike suggested would be a good start.

I could maybe help ya out, but it would probably have to wait until the weekend unfortunately

All of the connections are good and the starter goes when I jump the solenoid so I think its getting enough juice? Trying to figure out where the starter relay is though, Thanks, Zack.

it's not necessarily a juice thing, it could be a grounding thing too

actually that car does look super familiar, how much would you be interested in selling for? I may know someone who is interested in something just like this

500 how it sits or 750 with a set of enkeis, grant gt steering wheel with Fiero hub on it already, and a perfect front bumper and hood. I have a few other misc. parts for it as well

Just tried turning the flywheel and it wont budge, is the engine even worth saving?
