Hi guys!
The name is brock liby. This is the first time I've been to your site. I've mostly been using third gen for a forum but it would be much nicer to find a good group of people locally who want to get together and wrench or cruise or w/e. I always wanted a third gen since i was a small child. Something about the front and rear end just look mean as hell to me. I traded a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer 2 door with 4wd and 200,000 miles for my 1991 Camaro RS. When the guy came to trade with me i took the car for a ride. Every time i hit the gas from a dig i felt a slam under the center console. plus the brakes needed work. I pulled over and got underneath the car and noticed the tranny mount was broken. This guy had no idea what a tranny mount was so he prolly thought the tranny was bad. So he took the trade and for about 40 bucks i had the tranny mount and the master cylinder replaced and i was burning tires. The car came with a tired 305 TBI. I'm pretty sure it needs new valve seals cause when i start it up it blows oil smoke for a min or two. The tach was bad so that was the next thing i started working on. I got the cluster out and thought i was going to just replace it or repair it. After further inspection i realized that the whole hvac system had been halfassed deleted. I knew the heater core had been bypassed from my under the hood inspection but i figure it was because they didnt want to change a leaky one. Boy was i upset then. Anyway me and a good buddy of mine with a fox body have been busting our asses tearing the dash apart and making trips to our local junkyard for parts to try and figure out what we are missing and put it back together. hes a hell of a friend to help me get faster than his ford lol. Hes a chevy guy too though. Actually looking to trade his fox body for a camaro/firebird. the previous owner had a license plate filling the hole on the inside of the passenger side firewall for the circulation flapper. It was caked with clear silicone. There are also a couple rust holes where the front upper part of the floor pan meets the firewall. The cruise control module was also missing. And i think i may still be missing a couple things back there because i have some harnesses i havn't found a logical place for yet but who knows there may be extra that were for options i dont have on the car. But we have what we think is all the peices to put the dash back together and have working heat. Now we just are waiting to find someone good at metal fab to replace the nasty part of the lower firewall on the pass side. I'm 23 years old and a full time college student on a limited budget. My plans with the car are to get the interior under control this summer. After that this winter im gunna build a motor for it for next summer. and i would like to get a different rear end with maybe some more aggressive gearing and posi trac. I of course also plan to upgrade all the chassis suspension and handling stuff. but the car is a sleeper theme. i actually just bought a set of stock rims for it. I dont want anyone to know its fast. So i need to utilize stock cluster and hood. would like to keep the stock center console shifter set up so i will prolly have to get some work done to the 700r4. But any advice or questions feel free to ask guys! im excited about this project and i can't wait to get back on the road with it. if i get the dash back together before the end of may id like to drive to the meet and greet. I'll post some pics tonight of the progress.
