  • New From Auburn

New to the site but not to the Fbody world. I've know about this place for a while, just never bothered to sign up. Currently own 3 F cars. A 1978 TransAm, 1982 Z28 and a 1997 Formula. Only the Formula currently runs/drives.

Little about me. I'm 27, live in Auburn (not the hills). Fell into a mortgage about 7 years ago, should have it payed off in the next 4 years then I can get my pole barn built. Got the family starter kit about three years ago....wife, step daughter and 3 dogs. There are times I wish I hadn't lost that receipt . Work at the Auburn Hotel as kitchen manager been there 12 years this year.

    My cars:

1978 TA. Got this one as payment for swapping a motor in a friends 78 TransAm. It had been sitting for 10+ years in a barn. Floors are ok. T-tops don't leak. No idea what I'm going to put into this one for a motor. I do have access to a Pontiac 400. Body is really good on this one. Plan to make it a nice day driver. Have all the parts to put it together, just not the time.

1982 Z28. This one is my baby. Completely tore this one down. Rebuilding with the best factory parts and aftermarket. Did new floors and the body work. Currently has an LT1 out of a 94 Formula (converted to carb, the stock intake is just sitting on there in the pics), T5, 3.42 10 bolt (9" is on the list), Ls1 rear brakes, Ctsv front calipers, 14" 5th gen rotors, 18x10 C5 DD's Konis, Eibach pro kit, 8 point roll cage (with factory plastic in place), I could go on but you get the idea. Just a few of the process, might have a couple recent ones of the finished interior. O-yeah...doing all this in a 2 car garage.

1997 Formula. After I traded off my 1994 TransAm I was hurting for another 4th gen bird. Knew I wanted a 6speed and T-tops (previous was auto/hardtop). Didn't have preference on Lt or Ls but had a feeling Ls would be out of my budget. Found a 97 Formula on craigslist for $2800....blown motor and needed a clutch. After like a month of trying to get together with the kid I was finally able to get down there and pick it up. Payed $2700 for it. Probably too much but it was almost exactly what I was looking for, plus it already had all the bolt-ons done (headers, cat back [no cat], CAI, etc). Got it home and drove it around. Car made great power, had awesome oil presure but motor sounded like it had a rod knock and the clutch was never the same each time you pressed it. Dropped the motor/trans out, pulled the trans off and 3 springs fell out. I knew right then that was the problem. Being that I had it out already I went through the motor. Crank came back fine with just a polish. ARP rod bolts and SRP forged pistons went back in. Plans are to put a set of LE2 heads/cam in it next year. Car is my daily driver in the summer. Iroc's are only on there temp. Car has some flaws but I'm ok with them....will probably pull the Formula stickers off the pass side this summer.

Winter daily driver is a 1976 K5 Blazer. This one has a long story too, but I don't feel like typing it so I'll just leave some pics.

Thanks for the greetings. When I get around to it I'll post up a build thread for the three cars. Have a lot of pictures and stories, probably do one thread for them all.

Thanks. The K5 I looked long and hard for. This one was brought up from down south (suppose I'll toss that into the build thread too). My last one rotted away. The 82 started out as a drag car. Bought a 454 and gutted the entire car (when I did the cage and floors). Realized I wanted something I could drive more often so switched it up a little. I'd love to do auto-x with it, actually was just looking around for track days this year.....for the 97. The 82 has a little while before it's ready. Eventually it'll have a hot small block/t56, the Lt1/t5 is just to get the bugs worked out of the chassis.

Welcome to MiFBody! My niece and three nephews all went to Bay City Western, did you go there too? Maybe one of them was in the same graduating class as you!

Welcome. Not a bad bunch of vehicles. That 2nd gen will be sweet. I bought a Pontiac 400 short block that I may sell if I don't end up using it.
