My name is Cody. I'm 18 and live in Utica. I have a '79 Firebird Esprit, currently a friend and I are partially restoring it. I bought it early this year and was told that the control arm was bent, turns out the subframe was twisted and lower control arm was ripped off the frame on the passenger side. I got a new frame and as of yesterday have started to sandblast it and get it ready to coat, along with the headers and control arms. After that we should be able to put the car back together and put on some new lines and we should be set with my car. The only future mods I see as of right now are to swap out the rear end with one with discs, dump a bigger engine in it, and restore the interior as well as paint it. Also going to get rid of the rims I have on it right now.

Welcome to the site, Cody. Where abouts in Utica do you live? I drive down Cass ALL THE TIME when I do my cut through from Van Dyke to the M59 frontage/service drive. I lived at 18 1/2 and Ryan Rd, now I'm up at 24 and Hayes. Just curious, because I remember there was a Firebird for sale along Cass Rd and it was black, don't really know more than that, but it looked like it was in decent shape.- Brian Meissen

I don't think the guy's name was Kevin, either way I wish I could go back in time and convince the first owner to not have done the things he did to it haha. The interior was gutted as far as electric stuff goes, the gears were changed because the guy decided he wanted to make it a strip car and never got around to it. Bored out the 301 .40 over from what I heard from the second owner, the second owners son used it as his DD and then got in an accident, which explains the frame problem. Overall I should be done with the car hopefully in a couple weeks. I'll post up pics here in a couple minutes.

I have more pics that I will post later, that pretty much almost sums it up. I live off 22 and Shelby road. My Firebird hasn't seen Utica yet so I don't anyone would notice.

I ended up paying $1600 for it back in March, I think. Got a new hood in mint condition for $20, fender for $30, nose cone for $30, subframe from Port Huron for $20, and another subframe in better condition with all front suspension from Indiana for $50. This project has taken a long time and a lot of work. That car did not want to come apart when we tried, every bolt was hard to get out since the frame was twisted.

I know I've seen that car before. Do you live along the road or in a subdivision? I know I've seen that car somewhere.- Brian Meissen
