Mike,
Michigan is a great place to live and a better place to own a Camaro. You will really enjoy this community.

Mike,
Why don't you grab a Southwest flight and come out for the 28th Street Cruise? I need a driver for one of the cars. LOL Check the last minute flights and see what is available. Let me know the cost.

welcome!
so when you say you taught suspension and steering systems at a college level, were you talking vehicle dynamics courses? I.e. using the book "racecar vehicle dynamics" -Milliken? Thats probably one of my favorite books ever written.. (well that and Internal combustion engine fundamentals - Heywood), ok well maybe im a car nerd.

To start, I am on about 25 forums to support different communities and their vehicles. I can honestly say I have never received such a fine welcome. Pete called me and told me I have a lot of greetings. I screwed up by not setting up my personal options to receive instant notifications. I have fixed it now. So thank you all. You are all great!.Originally posted by DanO View Postwelcome!

The question was asked me about my teaching experiences. I did teach a lot about designs, and in fact the class I taught was about 40% lab work. Design and practical applications were stressed, but also hands on inspections R&R, safety etc, was also part of the program. We spent a healthy amount of time discussing all the angles and design functions that are not normally reviewed in just a R&R class. Role centers, steering axis inclination, scrub radius, etc were all reviewed and discussed in a very practical application. At that time, I was involved with 2 SCCA vehicles; a B Production Corvette, and a A Sports Racer which was like a Can AM car. We often had these vehicles in the shop and in the air, and discussed why these vehicles are different and the reasons why. We went thru all kinds of scenarios as to why settings were like they were, and reviewed some driving technics by describing the art of cornering. On several occasions with it was safe to do, we even gave a couple of the guys a quicky road test and demo in the parking lot if it was safe enough to do it.
I hve a very old version of Milliken's book that is quite freyed, if that tells you anything. I got my Vocational Ed teaching credential from UC Berkeley and one of the requirement projects was a serious paper. I wrote a 75 page paper on suspension performance that is , to be honest, still valid today. But in those oldie days, this was all done by hand, typing, making drawings, and literally pasting them onto copy! What kills me is I lost the master copy somewhere between moving in/out of 3 houses. Last year, after spending a bunch of time with our Pedders Aussie family, I did get inspired and began writing it again. So far it is about 50 + pages but have not yet completed it. I spend maybe 6-10 hours or more on the computer every day and after staring at a screen, it is hard to get back into the groove againl It is not the kind of thing you can spend a hour or so here and there. Bu I will complete it some day.
Again thanks to all.
Now on current items, we are a little behind our goals for the 2010 Camaro mostly due to 2 things: The Camaro came out about 2 months late, plus there were quite a few things different than what we were given from the guys at GM Racing. Many may not know that Pete was consulted on the Rileys Technology Built Koni Series GS Camaro. GM Racing actually did all the design work themselves. So we have actually had parts for the Camaro 9-10 months before the Camaro was even built. Pedders parts have literally shocked dozens and dozens of engineers who have driven Pete's G8. For those that may not know, the Camaro and G8 suspension are the same design, with a couple of differences in a bushing here and there, and the length of struts. GM thinks that you absolutely have to have soft rubber bushings to maintain a fine quality ride and reduce noise effects. Pete has no rubber in his vehicle, and our Xa coil over rates are 2X and higher than OE. Yet we still have comfort, a sports car comfort (I think better than a Z06),it is quite, yet can turn a 1.05g on a 200ft skid pad. A Enzo Ferrari can turns a 1.01g! So the Camaro project is very dear to us all at Pedders. Now that we have our own Camaro, literally the sky is the limits as to what we are going to do. We have figured out, by the way how to install a 305 tire on all 4 corners. So we will ultimately have 600hp net at the wheels, a serious body and interior upgrade that should be done today, custom Forgeline wheels, a killer exhaust with electric cut outs (Pete says he does these because he is hard in hearing and cannot here the exhaust and the engine. But we all know that Pete gets lonely, and needs people around him. So he opens up the exhaust., hits the loud pedal a couple of times, and instantly he as new friends!. If you never have met Pete, you will find him quite fun to be around. Plus all you car guys and gals ill die hen you see ht he has done to his Camaro. He will be unveiling it this weekend. So all of you should go see it.
thanks again for the very arm welcome.
