  • Hello

    Hello everyone,
My name is Art. First I'd like to thank you for welcoming me. I have two F-bodies. A 1994 25th Anniversary Trans-Am and a 1979 10th Anniversary Trans-Am. The 1994 I bought brand new and only have 12000 miles on it. As for the 1979, I am the second owner and it probably has 80000+ miles on the body.

The 1979 is the main reason I logged onto this sight when I heard about it. Actually I was at the gratiot cruise and saw a few cars with this site "advertised" in the form of a window/bumper sticker.

I'll use this moment to get any info I can. I am basically looking for anyone or anyone's advice on a competent business to restore my 1979 Trans-Am.

The body is in pretty good shape. Maybe two minor dents. There's a very small area of paint on the hood that was eaten through to the metal from something I obviously carelessly left on the car cover. So when it is all said and done I will probably want the car re-painted.

The real issue I have is that I took the original engine (pontiac 400) out (by the way this is a 400/4spd) and had a company build me a hopped up 400. That engine had one major problem. The oil pump driveshaft let loose and took out some water jackets one night as I was on my way to gratiot some years ago.

I had the business re-build the engine with a replacement block and it was not quite as fast. I then took the top half of the engine apart. I have three sets of heads and three cams, which I planned to put one of these combinations into it. Unfortunatly I don't really have or had the time to work on it, and would need someone with engine experience to get it running.

I paid $5000.00 to have the interior re-done as closely to factory as I could at the time the work was done ( I'm guessing 15+ years ago). I have an awesome (was awesome at the time) Alpine stereo that I put into it, another $5000.00.

As I stated earlier. I need anyone's advise who has good experience with an engine builder as well as a paint shop that maybe specializes in pontiacs or F-bodies. I need to know where I can take it to have it done right.

If anyone out there can help, I would appreciate it greatly.

I look to hearing from you all, and will post pictures as soon as I can..
