Hello all,
My name is Mike, I'm a 30 something father of 4 who just purchased a "new" F-body. I've been a life-long T/A fan, the two I just bought will be my 5th and 6th. I previously owned 2 1978's, a 1989, and a 1997. The first 1978 was sold to purchase a better condition 1978, which later fell prey to the "not a family car" virus.
The 89 was bought as a commuter vehicle, thus avoiding the dread virus. When its tranny began to slip, it was traded in for a 1997 Firebird. I drove that one for 3 years, until some soulless drunk clobbered it while it was sitting parked in front of my house, completely obliterating the drivers side. Frame damage made repairing it rather doubtful, so it was traded in on a more "practical" car.
I spent the next few years toyless, but my son turns 15 this year, and I decided it was time for us to get a project car. So I bought a pair of 1987 Trans Ams. One is a maroon T/A with the TPI system and a digital dash, nearly running, just needs a fuel pump. The other is blue, and is little more than rolling frame. Not sure what i'm going to do with that one yet.
So, I'll be asking lots of questions, and looking for lots of parts, over the next year or two.
