  • It has been so long I feel like a newbie again!!!

A lot has been going on in my life that has taken away from my liesure computer time.

Back in September my firm decided to lay everyone off to collect unemployment. Ok, fine - but they expected us to show up for work everday for free. Well I did not take that very well, and my wife raise heck over it. I guess extreme times call for extreme measures - but I did not appreciate being involved in something of questionable legality.

This gave me the time and the push I needed to finish my ARE exams... I took the last part (of 9) December 9th and have now passed all of them. I am officially a licensed Architect now.....

I also decided to post my resume on the AIA website. It only took two weeks for a headhunter to contact me. After two interviews in September and October, I had an offer to work at THA Architects in Flint starting 1/5/2009. I feel very fortunate to have found a new position in such an economic downturn. Thank you GOD!!!

I have been busy learning my new firms procedures and software. I have been getting more involved with my sons Cub Scout den. Also have joined the Clarkston Rotary Club.... And finally working on business development to find new clientel.

So I have been very busy!!!!

I posted car pics in my albums too... so enjoy and I look forward to cruisin', Friday nights on Woodward.. and of course the M&G!!!

    See you all soon... Dave

That's good to hear you were able to get a job around here man. I was going to get my degree in Architecture but decided to change course and work on my degree in structural engineering instead. I just hope by the time I get done with it the economy will have turned around. Welcome back.

Wow that's great to hear! I'm in my sophmore year at LTU in the Architecture program, with plans to go all the way through to getting my License without stopping. I was working at a firm for about 9 months when they had to tell me they'd call me when they got some work in. Just not much goin on right now, hopefully it picks back up with warmer weather!

Thank you everyone.... also, the IROC is not my winter ride anymore. After hundreds of dollars on car washes and tons of flack from car guys, I bought a winter ride in November. The IROC is safe and secure next to his older brother.... and I am driving a 2000 ZR2 Blazer. Got a fantastic deal on it, no rust, loaded, moonroof, 79,000 miles - $3500 - it only needed new tires.

                          Talk to you all soon!!
