    I've owned my Trans Am since before I was even dating my wife. In fact, we went out on our first date on my 25th birthday, which was the day I got the car it's license plate.

    These days, the car is extreme enough that Laura doesn't like to ride in it anymore. In fact, the last time she rode in it was the summer of 2001.

    This year, the car takes a big leap in performance when I install the engine that I've been working on for nearly five years: It's an all-forged, internally balanced, fuel injected stroker motor with roller valvetrain, ported heads, ceramic coated pistons, and more. The car already has the roll bar, T56 transmission, and heavy-duty Spohn suspension, so it'll hold up to the estimated 480 horsepower that this motor should produce.



    Another item of interest was this year's repaint: After 21 years the paint was looking a but dull, so the whole car was disassembled and repainted using Sikkens Autobase Plus and HS+ clear coat. What you see is bare paint, with NO wax applied:


    I'm looking for a professional who can help me reinstall the graphics. After they are installed, I should be able to wax the whole car with Zaino's new wax system to really bring out the shine! I can't wait!

    Well, I hope to see you all sometime this summer: I'll be the one with the booster seat and three kids.
    1984 Pontiac Trans Am. Well, most of it anyway. Some of it is 1969 Chevy. Some of it is 1982 4-cylinder Firebird, 1987 Trans Am, and 1991 Formula 1LE. Some of it is 1994 Trans Am, and some of it is 1999 SLP Firehawk. The rest is aftermarket.

    oh my god, that engine is beautiful. And the paint on that Trans Am is looking amazing too, can't wait to see some pics of it shinin in the sun this spring/summer!

        Since it's never been started, best estimate, based on cam profile, cylinder head flow, compression ratio (10.61:1) etcetera puts it in the 480 HP range, with a relatively flat torque of 460 ft.lbs from 2500 RPM on-up. Power should peak at 5800, and with the AFR Hydrarev, it should be able to hold power to about 6500 to 6700 RPM.

        In addition, in case that gets boring, there's nitrous spraybars already integrated into the miniram plenum, and a new NX "wet" kit in the basement. However, I wot be installing the kit until I put in a different axle, probably next year.

        I'm wiring up an Accel Gen 6 DFI for now, with a piggyback wide-band O2 system from Innovate Motorsports, but I'm in line for a new FAST XFI system. I dont know if mine will show up this summer yet, or not. I was hoping it would be ready by now, but FAST hasnt shipped their prototypes out yet, much less my system.

            damn, that car does look really clean. i wouldnt mind owning a 3rd gen, but i have to get a used viper first. so the cars so bad ass that the wife wont even ride with ya...thats the shit man. ive always felt that the best driving experiences are experinced alone. isnt that the truth? nice car man, itll be a real sleeper in that 3rd gen, most are slow as balls, or look like theyre 20 sec cars. i like the yellow too. ive thought about doing some yellow on my motor when i do it. maybe yellow intake or valve covers on my sunset orange Z. what do you think?

              I've been doing some powdercating work on a friend's LS1, actually. She went with a candied purple translucent and she converted a lot of the plastic parts to polished billet aluminum from MBA. I've been polishing the aluminum, then powdercoating them. It'll be show car worthy for sure this summer.

              You could probably do the same with yellow, or perhaps even translucent gold... The plastic pieces will require a good quality paint as you cannot powdercoat them. Perhaps you could find some Corvette engine covers, then shoot them, along with a FAST LSX intake manifold with some gloosy yellow? Sand them down, smooth them out, and the shop here in Haslett, Vision Collision, will do them for you in Sikkens. It'd look killer!
