  • Hi!

I've been registered here for a while now but never actually posted. I drive a 97 V6 Camaro with an Auto and Y87 Package. And its also turbocharged. Its black right now but I plan just primering the whole car because I'm sick of taking care of the paint and it would piss me off less and cost less to fix when people hit my car(I've been hit 6 times since I got my car).
Its almost spring and hopefully I will be able to attend some meets and shows. I will be up for races too after I get all the turbo stuff tuned and worked out.

did you build the kit yourself? What other supporting mods do you have done, seems like some of the guys here forgot you can't just slap on a turbo kit and go. Looks nice by the way, what color you gonna repaint it?

I bought a kit from FFF but nothing fit right and the quality was so poor that I had to get it remade by a local shop in Monroe, MI. I shoulda got it made by them in the first place and I woulda saved couple grand(They will make all the pipings for you for like $800). Well, I guess headers, walbro, !PCV, and borla exhaust if you can call those supporting mods. I dont plan on getting a real paintjob anytime soon. I'm just gonna get it primered flat black like the ricers. Maybe I will get it painted with the money I make from my internship before I go to grad school. But I might need that money for grad school so, it might stayed primered for another 10 years or so.

So your running stock injectors and internals with a bigger fuel pump, how much psi you pushin? What kinda numbers you hopin for on the dyno and the track? Any other cars to compare your setup too? Sorry I have so many questions but I'm interested in your setup and love turbo f bodies.

Yup. Its running 4lbs of boost right now. I'm getting a boost controller in the mail pretty soon so I will up that to around 8lbs. Then after I get the HP tuners, I will go 10lb+. I dont trust the Vortech FMU at all so I'm going computer tuning and bigger injectors instead.

Yeah I have HPT myself and will be tuning for my new H/C setup soon. I would think that anything higher than 5 or 6lbs would be a bit much especially for a completly stock motor, do those V6s really hold boost that well stock?

Welcome to the site! I'm Brian. Very cool turbo setup you got there, definitely interested in hearing more about it. Wish I had a 3.8L instead of a 3.4L.

You'd be surprised. These motors can handle alot of abuse. Before I had the turbo kit, I used to run 100 shot of Nitrous on my car like all the time after school for good old high school drag racing. And the motor is still running fine. The only thing that is breaking on my car is the drivetrain.
