Hey guys some of you might remember me and some don't I was a member here a very long time ago and been to a few meet n greets I'm talking back when Brian did the LT1 swap on his red Camaro days!...well I'm back now!...my old name on here was Quasar Camaro and I was very active in the forums...my name is Nick and I used to live in Westland,MI....well I missed my F bodies and my love for the group and the meet n greets so I decided to pull the trigger on a 91 dark teal RS...never seen a flake of snow or a grain of salt and is just shy of off the assembly line condition!...not much done to it besides a hypertech chip and a shift kit but we will change all that soon...well it feels good to be back!...I moved to Allen Park because I got married but lost my wife from complications from a severe car accident so this car and being back in the family here again will help ease the pain a touch...hope to catch up with a lot of old faces here and get back to the meets again and meet some new friends as well!

Welcome back, though I am very sorry to hear about your wife - that must have been absolutely awful.
Hopefully the F-Body family can at least provide some small bit of help via car therapy!DarkTealRS likes this.Gone but not forgotten: 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z

Thank you for the warm welcome!...again!...haha!...yeah over 13 years of marriage gone just like that!...it's extremely tough losing my soulmate and the RS was built 4 days after her birthday I found out on compnine and the car is from Indiana where most of my mother's side of the family is from....which is pretty cool...but remembering all the fun I had here and how fun the meet n greets we're I had to come back...it took me many many years but I finally got here...not sure if anything but the dream cruise is going on for us F body nuts but I don't like going to the dream cruise because you always hear about oh my car got stolen or someone dinged or hit my car and other sad stuff so I'd rather not go....but anything else is fair game to me!...I'm just hoping some of you will remember me.

Hi Nick. Welcome back!
As Kyle said, sorry to hear about your loss. Hopefully the car hobby can help you heal.
My first new car was a white '91 RS. Actually met up with it again at this years Meet & Greet! But I spent many hours looking at the brochure and trying to decide between Arctic White and the teal color. Sound like you found a great example!
L03 TBI 305 and auto. in my T/A as well. No the fastest things for sure, but a good cruiser.
What are your plans for the car?DarkTealRS likes this.DynoDave

Thank you for the warm welcome Dave!...it's such a clean car I'm not sure if I want to go the LS route or not with it...it's all up in the air right now...This is my 8th 3rd gen...I want to look into chassis stiffening better sway bars and whatever else I can put into it as far as handling for now...it seems a lot lower than the previous ones I've owned in the past so once I get it into my shop I'll be able to decipher what is exactly in there because I noticed it's got some new components but haven't brought it inside to see what they are...been soo busy with customers I haven't had the time but the car has never seen snow or salt ever and has always been stored inside once summer was over but the plans are all fresh and new but I know I'm going to be doing all the maintenance first and foremost because they are all due so that's at the top of the list at the moment!...beautiful T/A by the way...my buddy Gwen had one exactly like it with a 350 TPI and a automatic...me and my friend used to stare at it all the time when we were in our early teens and always dreamed about having it...we were 14 then and I'm 42 now so that tells you how long ago that was!

It's a real blow to the chest about what happened to my wife but getting back into my old group again and having my new RS that's in damn near showroom condition helps ease the pain a touch but I look at it this way she may not be here in the flesh but she's still here with me...we were married for over 13 years.

When I got my T/A, it was a "survivor" if you will, with maybe 52k miles. Except for tire, battery and alternator, it was all original down to the plug wires, hoses, date stamped radiator, etc. I bought it on a used car loan, so I promised myself I'd leave it alone and drive it / enjoy it as-is until I was done paying for it. I've acquired parts along the way for modifications, but have made none. Particularly on thirdgen.org, there are a lot of folks who like them stock.
Looks like your RS came with the 16" wheels and Eagle GA tires?DynoDave

That's the way mine is!...it's all stock down to the plug wires and plugs...it has 105k miles on her and the only modification done to the car is a hypertech super chip...the tires that are on it are 235/55/16s up front and 245/50/16s out back...so the tires have been changed...the owner of both our shops has a pretty beat up GTA sitting over at our other shop with the gold meshes on it and I was thinking about what all I can take off that car...it's got the disc rear end which would be great to have and I would also keep the wheels and polish and clean them up but I'm wondering what else I could use off of that car for upgrades on mine...I'm still trying to figure out what shocks and springs I have because like I said she seems to sit a little lower than the 3rd gens I've had in the past...I'm thinking that I'm going to have to pull the wheels off because when I brought it in to my shop for a oil change I looked but couldn't see any stickers on them but they are all new and it looks like I got either prothane or energy suspension sway bar links on the car as well...but my last 305s all seemed to be dogs but I'm shocked with the power it has...quite shocking actually...but anyways I'm hoping to find out more with the beat up GTA...could you tell me what would be worth swapping over to my car other than the rear end....I'd really like to know what all I can use off of that car!

If you take the whole GTA rear, be sure you know what the axle ratio is Vs. you RS. If it is different, you want the gears out of the transmission, and maybe the vehicle speed sensor? Can't remember if it's driven off that gear at the trans or not. I think it is. No cable for a speedo, these have electric speedos. I think that VSS took it's place, but I could be wrong. Get the park brake cables and brackets too. Same with the lines if they are decent.
I think the GTA has the WS6 suspension, so I think you will find it has bigger front and rear sway bars Vs the RS.
Let me know if he parts the car out. I might come pick a few Firebird parts.

I'll find out more about the GTA when I see him...it's in pretty bad shape but the rear axle assembly is rust free...I forgot to snap some pictures of it last night but next time I go by it I'll take some...not sure if I can make it out to Woodward...my mother is in her golden years and she's been pretty sick lately and debating on going to the hospital so I've been keeping a close eye on her lately.
