Headers - 1967 Firebird

Hello I'm new to the group. I'm building a Firebird 1967. I installed Doug Headers Model D569 and they do not work because they do not drop low enough below the floor board. I'm wondering if anyone has installed Headers that work in a 1967 Firebird without making any modifications to the body or frame? I'm looking for a 1 3/4" Long tube. I appreciate anyone's sharing of experiences here. Thank you.

Likewise with Dave, no personal experience with first gen Firebirds here either (and second gen Camaro experience doesn't really relate, since it's a Pontiac motor), but based on the reviews on Summit Racing, I'm surprised you're having an issue. That said, especially on older vehicles, headers are always a crapshoot, due to the wide variation in build tolerances.

Did you just replace the motor mounts? That could have pushed the engine up and caused the issue, maybe? Oppositely, if your body bushings are bad (like mine are), they'll drop the body closer to the subframe, reducing the clearance available to you under the car for the collectors. Having both new motor mounts and old pancaked body bushings would be the worst case scenario.
