I am interested in verifying if a particular engine came in the vehicle I am looking at - 1970 Lucerne Blue Trans am. Can someone give me a summary of what code numbers I should be looking for. I have heard conflicting information on whether the vin number was actually stamped on the block or not. I understand their is a date code, an engine casting number, etc. Can someone clarify how to verify that the engine can in the vehicle originally.
