  • Hello!

    Hello from the new guy!

I reside in the big town of Lowell. I am currently searching for a Camaro. Last spring I had to sell my 68 Camaro. I’ll post pictures when I figure that part out. My 68 had a BBC 468, and she produced over 500 HP. If I could have shifted better, she would have been in the low 11’s. As you probably can tell, I miss my 1st gen. My wonderful wife could see my pain and gave me her blessing to purchase another Camaro. She only wants reliability. No other restrictions, just reliability. The 68 was broke down more then it was running. I have been looking at the 4th gens (2000 SS). I am attempting to get educated about 4th gens. For many years, all of my attention was on 1st gens, and now perhaps I should upgrade a few years. Currently, I am trying to figure out this SLP thing. I understand what SLP stands for, but what value should these options bring?

Based on my login, you can probably tell I am affiliated with West Michigan Camaro Club. Although, I currently don’t own a Camaro, the people at WMCC still treat us like family. While we owned the 68 we were active members for a couple of years. If you are looking for a cool club with fun activities every weekend, I would recommend checking out WMCC. What a great club! Hopefully by spring, I’ll be a proud owner of a Camaro once again.

Before I officially joined, I looked around MiFbody for several hours. Lots of great information floating around! I am excited to dig in.

Keep in touch. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

      Welcome.
SLP stands for SLP, I'm not joking! It orginally stood for Street Legal Performance but was was legaly changed to "SLP" kinda like IBM

      SLP website is www.slponline.com
SLP engineering, who built the SS's is no longer around.

You can also visit www.chirpthird.com ,that where some of us SS folks are at. 1 last thing, All SLP engineering built all 4th gen SS's.

I really haven't seen much of a price premium for the SLP options. Heavily optioned cars go for more because they cost more originally. I have the 345HP package on my car as well as the SS grill and it came with chrome ZR1's also(I now have different wheels on it but still have the original ZR1's). When looking at cars WU8 is the code for the SS package and Y2Y means there was second sticker SLP content. Those cars should have additional door stickers on the drivers side stating that SLP added content to the car and on the passenger side door there will be a sticker detailing what options SLP added.

Hey Dale, glad to see you posting here. Steve O. said you are looking for another Camaro. We will have to get together some evening, hammer a few beers and talk Camaro. Hopefully see you and Angela at some meetings and shows. Autorama is coming in Jan.

Yes there are a lot of 1st gens, have to look around and they are pretty costly. I just a couple months ago picked up a complete and in very good shape 69. Adding my touch to it now. Hope to have it ready for the show season. I think you and your wife will be more comfortable in a 4th gen. Long trips we take our Berger and enjoy it.
Also Randy, when these white third gen guys roll out of bed this morning, (or afternoon), they are going to "have you for lunch". (lol)
