    Hi folks,

Just thought I'd say hello. I just discovered the place. It's nice to have a locally oriented forum available. I don't get out of the state much, so oftentimes a national forum like ChevyTalk or Hot Rod isn't so great for finding cruises and like-minded people.

My name is Dave. I'm 25 and from Whitehall. I'm married and living in Muskegon at the moment while I attend school in Grand Rapids, but my Camaro still lives in Whitehall in my parents' barn.

I'll try to post a picture, we'll see if I'm as smart as I think I am:

As you can see, she's a '68 convertible. She was Palomino Ivory with a white top when she entered the family in 1990. After a parking lot accident in 2001 she was treated to a Green Glow Metallic repaint and a black top. I retained the Ivy Gold interior.

Originally a 210 horse 327 backed with a Powerglide and a 2.73 open rear axle, my father and I hopped up the engine to near-L79 specs, swapped in a close-ratio Muncie, and had the rear gears changed to 3.42s (still open).

Eventually I would like to add front discs, a wide-ratio 4-speed, and a limited slip differential. I have a set of dog dish caps for the car and would like to obtain some 15x7 steelies to fit to her. Right now I swap back and forth between 15" Rallyes and 14" Cragar S/S.

If you're in Muskegon/Whitehall in the summer, you've probably seen her as I drive her a lot.

Right now I'm in the market for a rear-drive sedan or wagon (Chevy II would be cool, but I'm open to Falcons, Ramblers, Valiants, etc.) so I can take our brand-new daughter cruising with us. But don't worry, the Camaro was first and will stay forever.

    See you around the forums,
    Dave

Thanks for the welcome guys. I actually discovered the forum through the WMCC site. I have considered joining in the past, but have been living out of the area since about 2001 (first Mount Pleasant, then Kalamazoo, then Lansing). Without time or regular access to my Camaro, I never bothered. Now that I'm back to stay (unless the economy drives me out, but I hope not, as I really love this area), I may very well join.

I have seen the other Palomino Ivory car several times at Mr. Quicks and White Lake Cruis'in. I've even spoken for a bit with the owners son (who, as I recall, has a rather spiffy silver 4th Gen). That car looks good with the black nose stripe, top, and interior. My car had green Z/28 stripes (not original), a white top, and gold interior. It was bland bland bland. When the opportunity came up for a change, I took it.

I have kept everything I've removed from the car, however, and make no changes that can't be reversed. So if my grandkids want to see what my car was like when it rolled off the line at Norwood, they'll be able to do a complete resto. As for me, I like the car as a period-style hot rod.
