  • Thirdgenners: Help me resolve some Qs

    First qwerk:
After Justin and I installed my AEM wideband and boost gauge my fuel pump relay no longer primes when you turn the key on. Fuel pump works when engine is running though.

    Second qwerk:
My wastegate dumps, and it's loud. And it sounds like flaming ass. What's the best way to quiet it down / tie it into the downpipe?

    Third qwerk:
Im getting all kinds of oil spraying out the passenger side breather when I get into boost (~9psi). Is there a way I can run an evac system with a catch can?

#1.. This may be a stupid question, but have you checked your fuses.
When the car is running, the oil pressure circuit will run your fuel pump, so you could have lost a group, or power from your ignition circuit, or even a fuse.

#2.. What ... You didn't want your car to sound like Ass..

Just kidding, I am far from Mr. Turbo.
I personally perfer super chargers, and even then knowledge on power adders is limited.

#3.. Aim passenger side breather at passenger side road lane, and then always pick the left lane when you Race.

This brings up another interesting question. When I first fired the car while I was setting the timing, the car ran just fine with the distributor not seated (AKA no oil pressure). I figured I could just crank it over a bunch and it wouldnt run b/c the oil pressure switch would kill the fuel pump, but it fired right up and ran with 0 oil psi.

1)(NOW DO YOU HAVE YOUR PVC SYSTEM PLUGED), AND DONT USE A BREATHER ON THE VALVE COVER, USE A CATCH CAN WITH A BREATHER. RUN HOSSES TO IT FROM BOTH OF YOUR VALVE COVERS.. MAKE SURE YOUR NOT PRESSUREIZING THE CRANK..

I have the PCV on the drivers side hooked up. It has a check valve though so when im not in boost its sucking air from the crankcase and when I hit boost it closes and air escapes through the pass side breather. Im going to have to switch over to just a couple of elbows with a catch can and breather though I guess.

ya your not going to be able to run that your still pressurizing the crank man.. u cant trust those check valves
and make sure you tie into the down pipe kk..
and check out what i wrote about your fuel problem kk

That is very odd...I would think your pressure switch is stuck.....but if the pump doesn't prime when you turn on the ignition, that leads me to think is a problem in the ECM circuit. Do you have a wiring diagram for your car....I would have to take a peek at it and the problem should reveal it's self.

As for your boost problems....got no clue I'm a NA guy....at least for a little while longer.

Sounds like James is in the market for some forced induction.

James if you put a supercharger on your car I sware to god I will either kill you and steal your car, or go curl up in a corner somewhere and give up on having a nice car.
