  • rear end broke

lol. Thought I would post something new in the third gen section. I broke my rear end last week thursday! It sucked. Luckly I have a sweet bro and dad. They picked up the car that night and I went back home to help my brother put the damn thing back together. I was pulling out of work and made a right turn while gassing it a little and the damn thing started shuttering and bouncing. I was like sh#t!!!! Turned out the spider and side gears inside the posi were missing a few teeth... Luckily we had the parts back at home to fix it and got er done late saturday night. Aren't cars fun???

            yup,

i am leaning towards a moser 12 bolt. It will be a little while before I can muster up the cash for it. I don't think I will be able to go to woodward with it this year. Sucks.

well if you stick with the gm get the forged axels and the c-clip eliminator only cost me like 200 bucks for everything damn what a differance it made... dont have to worry about shotting a tire at someone hitting second gear...lol

I could imagine that it wouldn't be pretty. I haven't had any problems with the axles. It is with the carrier. I figure if I buy the 12 bolt I won't have to worry any more. Some time in the future I am planning to increase my horsepower some more and I don't think the 10 bolt will hold up. better to be safe than sorry.

Get ahold of Al Fox on the www.Michiganspeed.com board. He has a built-up fourth-gen axle laying there for only a couple hundred bucks. He pulled it because he's now in the 1.5 and 1.45 second 60-foot range, in the 11.teens on the E/T.

His axle will hold 400 RWHP no problem.

1984 Pontiac Trans Am. Well, most of it anyway. Some of it is 1969 Chevy. Some of it is 1982 4-cylinder Firebird, 1987 Trans Am, and 1991 Formula 1LE. Some of it is 1994 Trans Am, and some of it is 1999 SLP Firehawk. The rest is aftermarket.
