  • Astro Van steering shaft upgrade?

There's a guy on TGO selling steering shafts from Jeeps / Astro Vans for our cars. This is a supposed upgrade as it eliminates the rag joint and provides a more responceive steering feel and more header clearance. However, I read somewhere that eliminating the rag joint causes premature failure of the steering box. I figured I'd ask my fellow third geners here if you have any insite to this. I like the idea of a better steering feel and seeing as how my rag joint is old and probably an issue waiting to happen I'd like to jump on this but I don't want to suicide my steering box if that's true. Thoughts?

Hell of an upgrade. I was modifying them with Jon for a while and selling them as well. Very easy to do. I changed it in my car and would never go back. Much cleaner look and huge improvements. I would highly recommend it.

Ever hear about the issue with the steering box before? I'm wondering if that's a concern or not....

He PMed me about 2 weeks ago saying he'd hook me up with one, modified, painted etc. for way cheaper than TGO but he had to see if he could get one first. Once he had it ready to go he'd tell me where to send the money.... I guess he just got busy (I understand that completely). I could get one from those dudes on TGO but he gave me a price I couldn't ignore. Again, I don't want to be a pest since it seemed like he was doing this out of the kindness of his heart. But it's rare when I get the OK from my wife to spend the money and I have nowhere to send it LOL.
