  • What do you know about 3rd gen borg warner rears?

Little background.. my car has a 10 bolt 3.23 setup in the rear with drum brakes. I'm looking into swapping that over to a rear disc setup with 3.73 gears. Looking back, my old 85 TA had a 9 bolt out back with a baby gear BUT I had disc brakes. I'm debating looking into finding one of these borg rears and installing a 3.70 gear (i was told that its the biggest ratio available for that particular rear)

Can anybody confirm that this will swap into my car? Any foreseeable issues?

I've heard that this rear is stronger than the 10 bolt.. can anybody confirm?

What is the going price for one of these bad boys?

    Thanks!

Yes, stronger than a 10-bolt and no c-clips! You can get a 4.11 gear and everything else here: http://9bolt.com/

I have a complete 3.70 gear set install kit with a TA cover if you're interested.

Right on! I'll keep that in mind Matt. I think the 3.70 would be a nice upgrade to my current gearing.. The rear disc brakes would be a plus as well.

The rear end to get is the 89+ 3.45 gear 9-bolt with aluminum calipers that came on T5 equipped cars. The iron calipers on the 9-bolts are not that great.

Nailed it with that post. I thought I saw a 9 bolt on the Grand Rapids CL...I'll have to search.

          Edit:

Guy has two, but they are from 87's I guess. Can't beat the price though, comes with everything you need I guess
