  • 82 TA on its way

hey guys i just picked up an 82 TA really nice condition for the year ill post some pics of it later has 383 stroker 400turbo trans 4.10 gears in the rear... power plant is solid but the guy who owned it before me try turning it into a straight drag car. try to bring it back to its original glory.
i have a complete t-top set up for it although it didnt come with t tops but i have all the trim and center bar and seals to install it anyone evey try this before? how much am i jumping into? if i cant make them fuctional i will just put the glass in permanatley... better than nothing. also anyone know of any junkyards in south eastern michigan with a nice selection of f bodies... i want to change the interior to black and gray instead of black and gold... so it matches the exterior.. and if i dont get the body kit i would like to find some stock gfx for it.. they were cut off along with all the a/c and heater controls in the attempt to make it a drag car.

    thanks dave...

I wouldn't do the t tops unless you don't plan on much power or doing a bunch of stiffening most yards should have some third gen cars

            rust

the only spot of rust on the whole car is the bottom weld of the door you cant even see it just hear it when it closes...lol the weather stripping on the glass was all rotted out and it sat for 2 years and rain just ate the tacks holding the door at the bottom. but its just the tacks not the metal itself soa little rust prevenative and a ground effects kit be good as new.

I dont know if you need them but I've got my original 1984 seats in my basement that I want to get rid of. The driver's seat has the requisite side bolster wear but the rear seats and passenger seat are like brand new.

Make a reasonable offer and they are yours!

I also have the functional cowl induction hood stacked in my shed with absolutely zero rust on it. One small ding. That's it.
1984 Pontiac Trans Am. Well, most of it anyway. Some of it is 1969 Chevy. Some of it is 1982 4-cylinder Firebird, 1987 Trans Am, and 1991 Formula 1LE. Some of it is 1994 Trans Am, and some of it is 1999 SLP Firehawk. The rest is aftermarket.

Is it just me or are there no hose clamps on the fuel filter? Even if it didn't fall off it could spray fuel out under pressure if the hose ever stretches.

I'm not exactly a safety freak myself, but I usually stay on the safe side when it comes to fuel.

Anyway, it looks like the car is in excellent condition. Congrats.

Cool deal! You wont be needing my hood, then.

Hey, I'm noticing a disease going around in third-gen circles lately: It's called "Projectafollowmehomeitis" .

It's catching, and you can recognise symptoms such as a sudden urge to troll neighborhoods looking for old used third-gens. You also may sometimes find yourself scanning EBAY for cheap Z28s or Trans Ams.. Worse yet, you may have an uncontrolled urge to put money down on a totaled Recaro Trans Am, then try to tell the wife about it AFTER you rent a storage shed to hide it.

"Honestly dear, it followed me home and it wont eat up too much money!"

"Honey, the kids are going to need a car in high school and this will be perfect when we're done restoring it!" (in about ten years!)

"Hey baby, happy birthday! Dont worry, when I'm done, you wont ever want to drive that minivan again! You wont even recognise it when I'm done fixing the rust!"

                        t-top sun roof?

hey the 84 ta i picked up has these wierd t-top sun roof on it size of a normal sunroof but split with a bar int he middle...lol anyone ever see this before.. is that a factory option... maybe ill toss it on ebay unless somone on here needs it.. anyway all i need from the 84 i picked up is the hood ground effects and the dash and heater controls it has a mint body so if anyone needs good fenders or doors hit me up before it goes to the scrap heap it also has the same rim set as my car... im not being greedy body parts take them off you can have them and like 50 bucks for the set of rims i already have 2 sets of stocks so dont care about that... just im in port huron anything you want have to drive up here to get it... want the whole car go for it but the back glass was busted out of it and its rusted and mildew all over the interior so besides body i dont think there is much to slavage from it... but let me know wezeles@hotmail.com

                            ground effects

hey guys got all the decals and ground effects on tryed the stock cowl hood still not helping me on my clearance issues. i do have the stock shaker style scoop that i might try, gives me bout 2 inches high and maybe 8 around ill post some pics tomorrow let me know what you think of the scoop because if it doesnt feel right i think im just going to put a standard 3 inch cowl on it. its suppose to give it more of the smokey and the bandit look but its not an acctual shaker scoop.
