  • trans shop suggestions.. Good work, fair prices?

Looking for a good transmission shop or someone with experience rebuilding 700 R4 transmissions. My goal is to have the trans freshened up and have a stage 2 or 3 kit installed with a shift kit. I'm hoping to find a somewhat local shop, with reasonable prices. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

I take all of my stuff to a place called "Joel's on Joy" in Detroit. Not necessarily the cheapest, but never a problem with their work. 313-581-6266 They are the "go to" place for Detroit racers. Even the car companies have them do their high performance work.
When in doubt, Whip it out !

Thanks Don! I will check them out. I've had a few quotes already. Just trying to make sure I'm getting quality work, by someone that knows what I want.

There's more to it than quality work nowadays. Price is a factor yes, but turn around time and customer service go a long way. Its hard to come by! Just something to think about.

Thanks guys! I have a guy that is really good, but getting him to return your call is always a problem. Customer service does go a long way!

X 4! Rich has been doing trans work for me for about 30 years. He's got my Turbo400 right now. Top notch.

Jolly's in Lincoln Park has done work for me in the past. They rebuilt my old 700R4 and installed a gear in my old 86TA. When my old 97 silverado needed a refresher, I took i there as well.
