Have you ruled out all possible fuses and relays? So the fan works when you "hot wire" it, I am assuming that is what you mean with a toggle switch. In that case the fan "works" its just not coming on when the car gets up to temp, correct?

my mechanical dude attempted to hot wire the fan, nothing happened so i'm assuming the fan's busted.

Yeah yours sounds like a bad fan entirely if it wouldnt come on by connecting it to a hot wire or battery then the fan is bad.

Question: Is the relay just a pluggy-inny thing?

Replaced fan motor, which - the old one was actually broken but the fan still won't turn on. Replaced what I think was the relay... They're not labeled or anything but the one we replaced was on the passenger's side by the A/C.
Car stays at a normal temp when on the expressway. Thinking about driving it up to Central Lake anyway... what do you think?

I personally would figure out my fan issue before anything else.

Edit-What year is your car? and what engine? Single fan?

May possibly want to try and 'jump' the aldl to see if the fan turns on. You do this by using a paperclip connecting the terminals A to B. This should spin the fan.

oh jeez! Well I'm gonna break down and get a toggle... it's only about $20 for the parts so that's way better than spending more time/money/supplies on stuff that might not work...
