  • Fuel Line Help

The previous owner of my 85 z28 Camaro stripped the fuel line where it connects to the fuel filter. How easy would it be to remove the line from the tank and install a new one? I would like to know what I'm getting into before I venture and get stuck and frustrated. Unfortunately I do not have a tap big enough to clean the threads. Any suggestions?? Help is appreciated! Thanks, Brian

You could cut the fuel line at the flare and re flare the line and install a new fitting.
Most of your auto parts stores have those fittings.
You might just have to stretch the line a little bit.

You could also get a fuel line repair kit...It allows you to cut that bad section out attach a new peice with end already flared and with connector..It comes with a rubber peice of hose to connect the two metal peices together

those tube nuts twist off all the time. they have repair kits that use compression fittings. you cut off about 4 inches and install a new section
        dorman makes them

Thanks For the Help. I went through an aluminum fuel filter, crossed the threads, and said screw it, I bought a metal one at Autozone. With a little patience I managed to get it on properly. I am definitely going to buy that repair kit soon though. I don't like the idea of having poor threads on a fuel line. I don't think I'm ever buying aluminum again if I have to deal with stripped threads. That and I need to expand on my Tap collection.

          Thanks Again, Brian.
