Im running into problems with getting some of the misc sensors and wires hooked up and not sure where to start on the fuel issue. the pump is still in the tank i have a fuel pressure regulator and the inline gauge. i also have the mechincal fuel pump. but have no clue which way to go or how to. I need some help beer and pizza to anyone that wants to help figure it out. I need it running asap or have to sell it. everything can hold off on it for no just need to move on its own power. Why are you going to run a mechanical pump? It would be easier to run the intank with a regulator.
These may help.

gotta be a BYPASS regulator that bleeds excess pressure back through the return line. or you will burn up your fuel pumpsigpic

If it was a TBI than you should be able to use an elcheapo holley regulator to regulate it down. Cuase TBI only ran 14 psi (like a blue pump) it wont blow past the regulator. Eric L

an average 600cfm carb requires around 4-6psi the rest of the pressure needs to go somewhere and a bypas regulator will bleed off the excess into the return line and back to the tank. otherwise the fuel pump will constantly be working hard to push 14 psi. liquids don't compress.sigpic

You can use a standard holley regulator as a return style. I have in the past. You have 2 outlets. 1 goes to the carb, and 1 goes back to the tank. Eric L

Its actually meant for a dual feed carb the way holley has it. But I have used it as a bypass style instead. Most BYPASS regulators that are stated as such are much more expensive. Just another way im cheap, but it works, lol. Eric LLast edited by prorac1; October 30th, 2010, 07:44 AM.
