he everyone, right now i am trying to help my stepdad with his 86 camaro 2.8. he replaced the radiator, water pump, hoses and fan, the problem is that the fan wont switch on when it needs to and i dont know if that has to do with a sensor somewhere that is telling it that it is always to cold, because the dash gauge doesnt work. but just let me know because he really wants to get this fixed thanks

It's more than likely a sensor. I'm not familiar with the 2.8s but the LT1s have two sensors - one for the dash and one for the PCM. The PCM sensor is what tells the engine to turn the fans on.- Brian Meissen

When is it overheating? At idle, on the highway, just running? I would try a thermostat like previously stated. Eric L
