I have a 350 2-bolt and am looking into getting eagle 18 degree splayed 4-bolt caps for 2-bolts...anyone know anything about making a 2-bolt into a 4-bolt???? is it as strong as a factory 4-bolt???

Moved it to the correct forum as it doesn't belong in the Technical & Informative Articles forum.

It wouldn't be as strong as a from-the-factory splayed 4-bolt block as it wasn't cast that way. You're much better off buying a block that was originally made to have 4-bolt splayed caps.

Something else to think about.. do you NEED 4-bolt splayed caps? Unless you are in the 1000-hp range, it's a waste of money. There would be no added benefit. Simple straight 4-bolt caps are more than enough for any car that will ever see the street.

Yes it will be substantially stronger than a standard four bolt main block. Only way to get it stronger is by buying an aftermarket block.

they are larger than the factory 4 bolt caps... but really if you want strength a bottom end girdle is were its at... 2 bolts and 4 bolts factory can take a pretty good beating and each are good for certain setups... my friends last stroker motor with the cam he had in it had so much tq he broke a couple cranks... mind you they were just steal not forged but then he tossed it into a 2 bolt block and never had a problem it acctually gave it that slight bit of flex it needed to hold together...

just depends how much you wanna do.. i know here to tap the block for splayed caps is only like 125 bucks but you have to line hone it after and that can get pricey with after market caps because most likely it has to be bored and honed... i paid 200 for hone alone... to get it bored they would send it out for 350 bucks so i lucked out with my new caps not needing it bored aswell...
cost wise unless your going crazy on this motor just try to track down a 4 bolt block, check out all the old pickups and vans in the junkyards they kept the 4 bolt blocks in them for years just research the cast numbers and make sure you dont get a crap one because after machine work and time it takes to turn a 2 bolt into a good 4 bolt you might as well bought an aftermarket block and started out ahead... they keep comming down in price for sbc aftermarket blocks.
