  • Engine is having problems running

Hopefully someone here can help I have a 86 Iroc with a 305 TPI. It starts up like normal but when I start to drive it it becomes very sluggish until i basically floor it. It feels like there isnt much gas getting to it but it only seems to be happening in the lower RPM like in 1st and 2nd gear but when im on back roads or the highway there is no problem. So i think it is either in the fuel delivery or the firing/electric area. please help if you know anything about this.

check your fuel pressure, change your fuel filter.

if fuel pressure is good give ignition a once over... double check everything.. if not fuel or ignition maybe vacuum?

i had a nasty vacuum leak between my head and manifold and she had a idle that surged just a little but once i hit the gas she didnt want to do anything...just fell on her face.. but after a second or two she would jump up and go... pulled the intake, new gasket, dropped the manifold back in, torqued everything good and she ran like a champ..
im just sayin hit a few areas with starter fluid while its running... rpms jump and bingo.. only takes 5 seconds so its worth a try..
