hey guys i have 2 people with a third gen that need headers and a y-pipe. i was wondering who is using what type of that is user friendly as far as plug access and ease of install. the one car has edelbrock shorty headers and they are a pain in the ass to work around.by what i have seen none of them are very friendly. one is a trans am gta and the other is a firebird formula. and of course performance is a factor too. are shortys or long tubes a better way to go. thanks for the help in advance

Longtubes are the only way to go. They might be less user-friendly but you'll make more power.

    Used to own a Firebird.

i like longtubes myself i have them on my trans am. who is better as far as power production and not bad on price? not sure what the owners are looking to spend just yet but im trying to find the best bang for the buck. both of these cars are stock for now tpi motors. i figured id ask all the 3rd gen owners on here to see who uses what and their opinions on their set up. thanks again

If installing long tubes I would not get the Pacesetter ones. They exit very close to the crossmember.

Hedman sells a set of longtubes for less than $150 that fit great and are a nice header for the price.

Hedman doesn't make a y-pipe for their longtubes, do they? Guess it would be cheaper to have one fabbed up anyways.

Correct, Hedman doesnt offer a y-pipe for those headers.

                        Hedman p/n.

They are currently out of stock, but I can put a watch on them and let you know when they come in. I offer all kind of different exhaust systems as well.

if you don't mind doing a little fabbing, you could put flowmasters scavenger onto the headers to speed up the exiting exhaust gasses.
