Yeah thats definitely a Mike Ridings converter. Lol glad everyone else has one!

I have to finish up the top end and plenty of small stuff.. Nothing really time consuming, the time consuming part is waiting for the funds to arrive. lol

What did you originally take the car off the road for?

I originally bought a short block from a local guy with a magazine car.. Wont mention any names because I believe he is a member. 388 CI built nicely powder coated block and what not. Turned out the thrust bearing was toast and sent metal shavings throughout the engine.. junk! Couldnt get my money back.. waste of 2 grand.

I had an engine built for it as soon as I got back from overseas, spent about 7500 on it and decided to take it locally for the machine work and assembly. Turns out the guy had no idea what he was doing. Same thing with my transmission, had it "built" locally.

I had my car on the dyno trying to get it tuned and had nothing but problems.. it was blowing breathers off like crazy and the seals were puking oil. Turns out the moron didnt hone the cylinders and the rings were lined up on several pistons. It gouged the cylinder walls and basically turned that engine into a pile of scrap... Same thing with the trans.. I wanted it built to handle the power and it smoked all the gears with a month.

I ended up trading parts from it for a complete engine that I have now. Its not nearly as stout but it will hold up because I BUILT IT. Lesson learned. If you want it done right, do it yourself! I built my transmission and setup my own rearend. If something fails now.. its my fault.

Basically why I lost all motivation to get the car back on the road too.. Its hard to see 10 grand worth of car parts turn into a pile of scrap

Two steps forward.. one step back.. Transmission has to come back out. Gotta get my converter back out. Damn... Tolerances are too tight.. Its bending my flexplate just enough for it to hit my starter gear while it spins. Not good. Oh well no biggie!

Curious how much power to you plan on making?

Or was it already mentioned and I misread?
