  • Looking for header recommendation

I'm almost done building my 385 for the '91 Z28, and I just have to decide on a set of headers. Can anyone recommend a certain brand or model?

I'm looking for ceramic coated, and I need a y-pipe extension as well. I need something that will of course fit without any clearance issues.

    thanks

Expensive but nice Hooker Super Comps, they have shorties with a Y pipe for like $700

I've had Hooker, Headman and Pacesetter, the nicest header manufacturer I've ever seen is Kooks. I have a set on my WS6 (6505S) and when I purchase another set of headers (for another vehicle) it will be Kooks again.

300 series stainless, built to order in the US (not a Chinese assembly line) and if I recall correctly tig welded. No flash and the 3/8" stainless mounting flange is perfect.

I don't know if they have what you need for your year, but by far, they beat Hooker in quality ten fold.

Oh yeah, I had them Jet Hot Extreme Sterling Silver ceramic coated.

I just got a set of these Hooker Super Comps for free.. Can't really vouch for em yet but so far they're built decent. Not quite up to Kooks standards but I can imagine they're cheaper.

"Fo free" is ALWAYS a good thang.

Ok, thanks for your input....Someone gave me some Hooker shorties a while back, but they are well used, and I am not gonna bother putting something on that is on its last leg.

brand usually isn't a huge deal as long as they are reputable, but I would highly recommend longtubes over shorties 10 fold.

I had hooker 2210 1 3/4 long tubes on my 383 last year, great headers and awesome fitment!

You need a mini OR lt1 starter tho.
