  • Wont Start!

    so its been running rich lately, and a little bit rough, prolly cause of that. but i go to start it this morning and it takes a like 3 cranks, usually only 2, but it fire up REALLY ROUGH.. wont keep a steady RPM and i try to rev it up really sluggish and really freakin shakey.. so i turn it off. come back 8 hours later and try to start it. wont go. need help.
    *also a day before i was idleing, and i noticed where it sat for like 3 minutes on the exhaust had shot some condensation(or fuel) on the ground about 6 inches wide by fot and half long. all blackish too. the exhaust is all soot black inside so its gotta be rich. how the hell i get this thing started and to a tune up place??

      LOL!!!!

      check all your plugs. see if they are really wet, and if they are gapped properly..

      check your oil, make sure it is at the correct level. and coolant too!

      check the simple things first.. KISS!!!! ( keep it simple stupid)

      if you have a fuel pressure gauge.. see how many PSI you are running.. in my experince. usually when a fuel pump dies, it will really have a boost in pressure before it burns up.. this however, does not explain you running rich.. it could be a result as to why its not starting.. DO NOT USE ETHER please.. for all thats holy.. god will kill a baby seal....

      chances are you probably have had a couple plugs go bad.. when you turn it over.. does it try to start, but doesn't go.. or just turns over with nothing.. if the latter.. its time to check for spark... take a plug out, lay it against the block or cyl head with a pair of plyers.. ( rubber grips please) see if it sparks while turning over.

      ive never heard of condensation of that magnitude before, unless it involves a head gasket or a crack in the cyl sleeve. check oil for coolant.. it will have a chocolate milky substance..

      thats all i can think of for now..

        Have you tried some fuel treatment?

        3 Elements necessary: Check each component.

        * Air

        * Fuel

        * Spark.

                pull out your spark plugs and see if they are fouled or anything. If the spark can't jump, no cyclinders are going to fire. How old are your wires?

                      Wow to be able to afford a set of headers must be nice J/K.

                      Get a multimeter or and test the alternator, cap, rotor, plugs, distributor and battery and you should be good.

                      Auto Zone should be abel to test all of them.

                      Shoot some WD40 to dry up the water and then some Silicone Spray on the wires and connections. That will keep the water out of them.

                        i'm sure cleaning off his "fouled and oily plugs that will help ALOT! Also replacing your header gaskets while you have those headers off will be a good idea. DOn't want the pain of taking them off again! Hope my idea worked!!
