TB question

Im looking to purchase this throttle body from a private seller, in used condition

thats the TB brand new from summit.

he told me this about it
"you can see on the side pic that the detent cable connector was relocated. i'll keep the TPS and the lower manifold on it for you. the water port on my lower manifold leaked, but i just used the TB bipass and it worked fine."

what you guys think? ithink he means where that putty red/pink crap is it leaked. and he bipassed it.

The part that has the putty on it is on your stock TB and has to be transferred over but he is keeping that so it's not an issue.

As long as the relocated cable connector don't give you problems it should be o.k.

But a 58mm, do you need one that big??
If you have a stock TPI a 52mm would be just fine.
You will have to grind the opening on your manifold to make the 58mm work.

BBK TB's are really noisy...at least the ones for TPI motors.

I would have him remove that putty, before I would buy it how do you know if the casting is cracked or that hole is stripped. Looks like he's selling junk! IMO.

That piece with the putty isn't the TB it's self.
It's the coolant chamber that runs under our TB's.
It's one of those "free mods" that can be done and skip that area.

Jake can just take his of his stock TB and put it on and he'll be all set.

are you getting it for close to nothing?
i almost would say you're better off with the new one for 300

he said straight up 100$ which seems pretty cheap. might be able to get it for less still.
i asked him about the detent being moved and this is what he said

"to be honest i don't know why he did it. the only thing i can assume is that the geometry wasn't right. i think the tb, the way it was out of the box, fully ingaged the detent too soon. i trusted the guy so i went with it. the guy is a very well known trany biulder around here. he even won the pinks all out event at No problems raceway.


it worked great with my 700r4 for years. so you souldn't have any problems with it either.
and i just was thinking about the manifold that bolts on to the tb....
if you have tpi then you won't need mine. you can just unbolt yours, and use it. I don't know what i was thinking"
