  • '87 headlight motors: Rebuild Vs. Replace

So, like so many T/A's out there, both of my motors are shot. Or rather, the gears in them are. I've seen the aftermarket repair kits out there, Classic Industries has one for example, but are they any better than the stock ones?

So what fixes have people tried for these headlights? Upgrade to another year? Rebuild? Replace with ones from the local boneyard and pray? Any solid aftermarket sources for better than stock ones?

The gear fix is easy, but then you may be able to get some used motors on ebay too. I got a pair of motors for fifty bucks, but didn't need them because I just replaced the gears and three pucks. I'm saving the motors till I need them. Either way, not a complicated fix.

Motor's out of the Fiero's work as well. You just have to swap the arm on them.
