I think it sounds like a great deal. Get some pictures and post them up and we could tell better. But you are getting much more then $4800 worth. If its a good shell (ruste free and no major body work) with the 3:73 posi rear is worth $800 IMO. Your gettting headers, trans, and even a 350 that you may be able to use some parts off of or even sell. I'd jump all over it!

what was swaped the trans or the engine? i belive you couldent get a 350 with a manual. If they swaped the engine i would be worried about the trans holding up. If they swaped the trans i would be worried about where they got it. If its a good aftermarket one then its ok but if its the trans they bolted to the 305's then again i wouldent use it with any 350 that i planed on makeing any decent power with

weak enough that gm wouldent put them behind the 350's. I know people use them and they work but for how long and how much power?
ive always been a beliver of useing factory parts and if they didn't use it there was probaly a good reason

Trans is likely legit...no 350 motor available in 84 though.

Agree that you'll be rebuilding the trans in the near future with any power behind it, but they can be built to handle it.

And I'd be skeptical of any car with a seized motor sitting in a field to be rust free...check the rear sub-frame...that'll be where it starts.

$800 sounds a bit high to me...well bought at $500 and reasonable at $600...

The T5 will handle a mild 350 as long as its not beat on, I have a buddy who has a 350/T5 combo and he's at almost 350HP and hes been driving it like that for years. But if your going to be pulling the siezed 350 out you might as well do some trans work and build it so it can hande the amount of power you want. I dont think $800 is high if it really is rust free, but like I said you need to check the underbody to ensure that its solid or its not worth anything. If you could get him down into the $500-$650 range I think it would be a great buy, again as long as the underbody checks out...
