i could have a great deal on a 1989 formula with a T5 but i keep hearing they are very weak and die after a couple power shifts? is that true?

also what would a T56 swap cost with a donor car? looking for estimate?

    thanks alot guys

They are not terrible...just don't powershift it. Powershifting is hard on any stock trans.

I know of a couple guys on TGO that are going pretty darn quick with WCT5's.

Fact. The T5 is weaker than the T56.

I've read to get the most out of a T5 transmission, get the following:

        Billet synchro keys
        Bronze fork pads
        Billet rear main cap
Aftermarket shifter with shift stops (hurst or pro 5.0)

If you really want to dig into the transmission, this book has a buttload of info about all of the T5 transmissions as a whole:

thanks alot. i called the guy and know he says it was a factory V6 5 speed car. then it had a blown small block with 500HP. now it got a carbed 350 with about 300HP. should it have blown apart the T5 with 500HP???

heres a good luagh. he had it in a barn and his neighbors goat got into the barn and jumped on it and broke the t-tops, cracked the windsheild, but a 1in dent in the front fender, and a 4in scratch in the quarter. its got new t-tops but still needs everything else. but its suppose to run and drive great. its got new rims and tires, brakes, springs/struts,

the truely weird thing is that it has heat and a/c he says. its so wierd. hes about 45min away from me so im gonna go look at it tomorrow hopefully. any help on what to look for. i know to look for rust. but anything else?

          thanks.

like I said it sounded like it ment 350trq is a general number for the trans to hold without much issue after that its a crap shoot Example some guys get away pounding on a 10 bolt for years others one pass on some stickys so just depends on luck sometimes

P.S Ill try to find that write up for you
