  • need a round about estimate

I am looking into buying a third gen and want to know an estimate on how much a complete engine rebuild costs for a small block chevy engine if i am doing all the work myself.

What are you going to do yourself? All the machine work also? How much HP do you want to push??
You could spend $5000.00 easy on a motor rebuild.

All depends on what you can do yourself, and how good of a kit you want to buy. Pace can give you some costs on some nice rebuild kits that are good quality.
I would buy some good quality products. Not some cheap kits off Ebay.

Depends on your definition of rebuild.

Check with Brian, I think he has 3200 into the lt1. Stainless headers, 502 cam, roller rockers, gasket set, behive valve sprins, titanium retainers. heads resurfaced and mild port job. Have not done any thing to block yet.

Depends on the work that needs to be done. If you want to go cheap, just find a donor motor to swap in...old school SBC's can be had for cheap now a days.
